Dan Rubin
Dan became a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society when he was 12 years old, right after hearing a local quartet perform at a Fort Lauderdale historical event (and convincing them to sing “Lida Rose"), but his infatuation with the barbershop sound began at a much earlier age. Before ever seeing a quartet in person, Dan was a huge fan of The Music Man motion picture, and though he didn’t know anything about the Buffalo Bills (or even barbershop) at that time, his favorite part of the film was the quartet.
Currently the Co-Director (with brother, Alex) of the award-winning Fort Lauderdale Sunshine Chordsmen Chorus, Dan’s quartet history includes Baritone of Done Deal (1998), Copyright (with his brother Alex in 1999) and Autograph (2000-2003), and has appeared on the International stage 6 times as a competitor, including once with the Louisville Thoroughbreds Chorus (2000).
Dan likes to spend as much time as possible outside in the Florida sun when he’s not singing, and has been known to spend his weekends sailing casually and swimming competitively, but he can also be found in the Orlando area from time to time, as a substitute with the Dapper Dans of Walt Disney World. Dan currently lives in Fort Lauderdale, and works as a web standards consultant, author and founder of a design and branding agency.
